Finally we have an mp3-player with some Garness tunes up and going! Feel free to listen to some tracks from the two albums we've released so far. We plan to change songs now and then, so please come back:-)
…these two twin sisters feel very happy and blessed. Our Christmas CD was so well received, both in the Norwegian press and among our listeners. It's a good experience when many of your critics actually understand the concept of what you've been trying to do - and judge it a success. For those of you who understand Norwegian, follow the links below to view some of the reviews (which will open in a new window) on Barnet i krybben.
Garness' new Christmas Album Barnet i krybben (in English: The Child in the Crib) is right now being manufactured, but the release had to be postponed until November 30. The one who waits for something good....and so on..:-) We really look forward to presenting this music to our audience!
We are very happy to announce that Garness will be releasing a Christmas album November 23rd this year! The album will contain a handful of wellknown and beloved traditional Norwegian Christmas songs, such as Stille natt (Silent Night), Mitt hjerte alltid vanker and No koma Guds englar, in musical arrangements that we hope many will find exciting and renewing. We are also proud to present three original Christmas songs composed by Garness. After performing two of them (Barnet i krybben and Fangens julekveld) for some years now on the extensive Christmas Tours with Oslo Gospel Choir, we have received several requests for a recorded version of these songs. So this project started really as a wish to meet with this request, but as the creative process in the studio got wheels, we discovered that Garness' musical identity really came to it's right in the landscape and mood that much of the Christmas repertoire invites to. And what an exciting challenge it is to try to make traditional, durable songs that many people have a relation to, sound new and fresh, but still let the original voice of the story teller in the song shine through. Our goal is to give listeners inspiration to reflect on the core of the Christmas celebration, maybe even daydream for some moments into the scenery of Bethlehem 2000 years ago - and of course we simply want to spread some of that good old "Christmas feeling" and peace that we all long for.
PS! Even though this is mainly a Norwegian release, there will also be two English songs on the record, including a brand new song written for this occasion.

Check out the new slideshow with pictures from two of our most memorable concerts lately. They took place in Witten, Germany, in May 2009 and on Frekhaug (our home town at the west coast of Norway) in October 2008. Both events were extra special to us, because they were the first solo concerts Garness held in both Germany and on Frekhaug! I think you can see that we had a lot of fun. Thanks to Jens Möller and Vegard Valde for great photographs!
We realize that we might be a little late here to actually call this news, since the movie has been on Norwegian cinemas since February 6, but anyway... No need to hide that we are a little proud about being asked to sing the cosy countryish song “Barking at the moon” (“Mot månen bjeffer jeg”) in the Norwegian dubbed version of the Disney motion picture about the sweet and brave little dog named Bolt.
Some of you may have noticed that “we'll be back soon with a brand new great-looking home page” has been the headline of this site for quite a few months.. We apologize for this! The reason it has taken some time is just that Hildegunn had to teach herself how to make one first... And dig out the guts to just do it! So, finally here it is, not quite finished, but hopefully a good place to start! The pages that are not ready yet (music, store and guestbook) will be updated as soon as possible, and we'll try to keep the site fresh, giving you the latest news and other updates. Enjoy!
This weekend we are coming to Switzerland on our first real Garness-tour in the country. We are really excited about it, and honored to get the invitation! We will be a trio on stage: Ingelin on guitars and mandolin, Hildegunn on Autoharp, Glockenspiel, keyboard and percussion and Tor Egil Kreken on bass and banjo - pluss all three on vocals! Duillier s. Nyon on Friday, Biel on Saturday and St. Moritz on Sunday. Songs from the record, some unreleased Garness songs, and even a couple of tunes from the OGC repertoire - in our very own versions! Heartly welcome to all that might have a geographical possibility to come!:-)
